[Jolly Sports News] Dennis Rodman has faced criticism from many in his life, including his daughter Trinity, who recently opened up about their strained relationship.
Trinity Rodman, a rising star in professional soccer, plays for the Washington Spirit in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and represents the US women’s national team. At just 22 years old, she’s making headlines for her achievements on the field, but her comments about her father are now drawing attention.
In an interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Trinity described her relationship with her father as painful and absent.
“He’s not a dad—maybe by blood, but nothing else. Hearing his voice is painful,” she told host Alex Cooper. She recounted how Dennis Rodman stopped providing financial support after divorcing her mother, Michelle Moyer, leaving their family to struggle.
“Before the divorce, he was helping financially. But after, it was like, ‘f–k you guys,’” Trinity said, revealing that at one point, she and her family lived out of a car. Attempts to live with Dennis failed due to his partying lifestyle and constant presence of strangers in their home. “I think he’s an extremely selfish human being. Everything has always been about him,” she said.
Dennis and Michelle met in 1999, had two children—DJ in 2001 and Trinity in 2002—and married in 2003. While Michelle filed for divorce in 2004, the split wasn’t finalized until 2012 after several attempts to reconcile.
In the podcast, Trinity also discussed the emotional toll of her father’s sporadic appearances in her life. She recalled Dennis attending one of her NWSL games in 2021, which left her mentally shaken.
“His presence threw me off. I was fighting back tears,” she said. The encounter briefly raised her hopes for a reconciliation, but those hopes quickly faded.
“After that, radio silence. I didn’t see him again until this year,” Trinity shared. “Stupid me for thinking that was gonna be a spark. Every time he’d come around, I’d think, ‘Okay, this is it. He’ll be around.’ Then months, sometimes years, would go by without a word.”
Dennis Rodman, 63, has been married three times and has three children, including another daughter from a previous marriage. Despite being inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011, his legacy off the court has been marred by personal challenges, including his tumultuous relationship with Trinity.
