[Saba Sports News] The Golden State Warriors are in full survival mode with Steph Curry sidelined due to injury.
Curry suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 of the Warriors’ second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
After missing Game 2, he’s expected to remain out for at least Games 3 and 4. With their star guard unavailable, the Warriors are searching for a way to stay competitive—and head coach Steve Kerr is turning to a new formula built around some unlikely contributors.
“There’s no Steph. It’s a completely different team,” Kerr said, per The Athletic’s Anthony Slater. “Everything has to be about finding a new formula, and \[Jonathan Kuminga] is absolutely a part of that formula. … Trayce Jackson-Davis showed he can be effective against this team.”
Kuminga has seen limited action this postseason, even as injuries have piled up. He got minutes in the first round after Jimmy Butler’s pelvic injury and was once again called into action for Game 2 against Minnesota. Kuminga responded with a team-high 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting.
Jackson-Davis had also played sparingly against Houston but made his presence felt in Game 2 versus the Timberwolves, adding 15 points and 6 rebounds in just 19 minutes.
The duo combined to shoot an efficient 14-for-17 off the bench, giving Kerr reason to believe this new mix could help the Warriors hold the line in Curry’s absence.
