[Saba Sports News] The Golden State Warriors advanced to the next round of the playoffs with a 103-89 Game 7 victory over the Houston Rockets. After initially holding a 3-1 series lead, the Warriors dropped two straight games, forcing a high-stakes winner-take-all showdown.
True to form, Golden State rose to the occasion, with Stephen Curry leading the way with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
Curry has built a reputation not only for delivering in clutch moments but also for his subtle brand of postgame pettiness. Following the Game 7 win, he showed up to his postgame interview wearing sunglasses—an unusual choice that sparked speculation.
Many interpreted the look as a not-so-subtle jab at the Rockets, particularly Alperen Sengun and Dillon Brooks, who wore shades to their Game 5 presser after a win. Brooks also took a swipe at Curry in that same interview, referencing the star guard’s thumb injury.
“I’ve been playing the game… If I had an injured ankle, I would attack that ankle every single time,” Brooks said, downplaying concerns over Curry’s injury. Despite the thumb issue, Curry performed well throughout the series, silencing any doubts.
The rivalry between the Warriors and Rockets was clearly intense, and Curry made sure to have the final word—both on the court and off.
Next up for the Warriors is a second-round matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves, a team that also brings plenty of attitude.
Anthony Edwards, in particular, has long expressed a desire to face Golden State and Draymond Green in the playoffs. With personalities clashing and stakes rising, the upcoming series promises to be another thrilling showdown.
