[Saba Sports News] The Golden State Warriors are staring down elimination after Monday night’s loss, and it doesn’t sound like Stephen Curry will be suiting up to save the day.
Golden State fell 117-110 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinal series, putting them in a 3-1 hole. When asked postgame whether Curry might return for the must-win Game 5, Draymond Green gave a cautious answer, saying the team won’t try to “Superman this thing” and that Curry will play only if he’s truly able.
Curry himself offered a telling response when asked about Green’s remarks:“Even if I wanted to be Superman, I couldn’t,” he told Marc J. Spears of Andscape.
Curry has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in Game 1 — a game the Warriors managed to win, before dropping the next three. Over the weekend, reports indicated that Game 6 is the earliest he might realistically return, which aligns with Curry’s downbeat tone.
Head coach Steve Kerr mentioned the need for a “new formula” without Curry, but that adjustment hasn’t paid off yet. Now, Golden State will have to find a way to extend the series without their superstar — and hope he’s ready in time for a potential Game 6.
