[Jolly Sports News] After signing veteran point guard Chris Paul this offseason, the San Antonio Spurs are now bringing in the son of one of Paul’s contemporaries.
On Monday, the Spurs announced their roster for the NBA Summer League, featuring Jameer Nelson Jr., son of former NBA All-Star Jameer Nelson. The elder Nelson, now 42, played in the NBA from 2004-18 and was an All-Star with the Orlando Magic in 2009. Though he never played for the Spurs, Nelson did play for the Dallas Mavericks in Texas and is currently an executive for an Eastern Conference team.
Nelson Jr., a 6-foot-2 guard, averaged 11.2 points and 3.3 assists per game last season for TCU. Despite going undrafted, he has already shown himself to be a highlight reel and will now have an opportunity with the Spurs in the Summer League.
