[Saba Sports News] Russell Westbrook doesn’t appear to be heading overseas anytime soon.

The former NBA MVP took to Instagram on Thursday with a message that seemed to reaffirm his commitment to playing an 18th season in the league.

“I am a force of nature,” Westbrook wrote. “Seventeen in the 📚. Thankful and grateful for the continued journey. Eighteen on the way. – The Brodie.”

The timing of the post seems deliberate. Earlier in the week, reports surfaced that Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv BC was preparing to offer Westbrook a record-setting overseas contract. But judging by his social media message, Westbrook has no intention of accepting that offer.

Now 36, Westbrook just wrapped up the season with the Denver Nuggets, averaging 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. He holds a $3.5 million player option for the 2025–26 season but could decline it to explore other opportunities.

With over $350 million earned in career salary, money likely isn’t Westbrook’s top priority. While he still has time to weigh his options ahead of NBA free agency, one thing seems clear — he’s not done with the league just yet. Just don’t expect him to entertain questions about it without a bit of attitude.
