[Jolly Sports News] The New Orleans Pelicans are expected to explore trade options for Zion Williamson in the coming weeks, but it doesn’t appear the former No. 1 overall pick is pushing for a move.

Williamson recently signed with a new agent, Bill Duffy of WME, who represents notable NBA stars such as Luka Dončić, Anthony Edwards, Scottie Barnes, and Chet Holmgren. Previously, Williamson was represented by CAA.

Speculation arose that Duffy might push for a trade as one of his first moves representing Williamson. However, a report from ESPN’s Tim MacMahon and Bobby Marks on Tuesday suggests that neither Williamson nor Duffy plans to pressure the Pelicans ahead of the February 6 trade deadline.

Williamson, dealing with a hamstring injury, has played just six games this season. He still has $126 million remaining on his contract over the next three seasons, though the deal includes team protections due to his injury history.

While the Pelicans might find it easier to trade another star player, their frustrations with Williamson’s limited availability could lead them to part ways. New Orleans, currently at 5-28, is enduring a difficult season as Williamson remains sidelined.

The former Duke standout has appeared in just 190 games over five NBA seasons, further highlighting the challenges the Pelicans face in managing his tenure with the team.
