[Jolly Sports News] A new report indicates rival teams believe they could lure Giannis Antetokounmpo away from the Milwaukee Bucks if the team’s struggles continue.
Several NBA executives told Bill Reiter of CBS Sports that they think Antetokounmpo might become available if the Bucks’ season turns sour.
One executive mentioned that “teams are circling,” while another suggested it could happen “by the trade deadline.” A third executive noted that Miami and the Brooklyn Nets have been mentioned as potential destinations for Antetokounmpo if he seeks a move.
While it’s early in the season to speculate, with the Bucks starting 1-3 and facing tough matchups against the Knicks, Celtics, and Cavaliers, concerns are rising. Antetokounmpo has expressed some frustration, even this early in the season.
Despite the rumors, there’s reason to believe this could be exaggerated. Giannis has shown loyalty to Milwaukee, signing a contract extension just a year ago. However, his desire to win may push him to explore other options if he believes the Bucks can’t meet his championship aspirations.
Antetokounmpo has not been the issue in Milwaukee’s slow start, averaging 28.8 points and 11.8 rebounds per game.
