While Aaron Fuller was outstanding, contributing 28 points and 22 rebounds, it was Nocomb who really pulled the team out of its slumping start, scoring 19 of his 21 points in the second quarter to allow Rain or Shine to tie the game at 55 at halftime.
With support from Jhonard Clarito, Andrei Caracut, Gian Mamuyac, and Caelan Tiongson, Rain or Shine kept the fire going in the second half, extending its lead to 116-96 at one point before easing to a 4-0 record and leading Class B.
Although Phoenix twice built leads of as many as 12 points without outside help, it still made Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao nervous.
“This team is really difficult to play against and they will try their best to make up for the lack of foreign players,” Gueaux said.
