[Saba Sports News] Nikola Jokić had the most fitting response after being spotted limping during the Denver Nuggets’ Sunday matinee against the Boston Celtics.
The Serbian superstar appeared to tweak his ankle after losing the opening tip to Celtics center Luke Kornet. As he hobbled off the center court logo at TD Garden, concerns arose about his condition. However, despite being visibly affected early on, Jokić powered through, logging 39 minutes against Boston’s relentless defense.
When asked about his limp postgame, the two-time MVP downplayed it in classic Jokić fashion.
“Yeah, I’ve limped basically the past 14 years,” he quipped.
Jokić’s unorthodox playing style—often resembling an aging veteran rather than a dominant force—has been part of his unique NBA journey. It’s one of the reasons he slipped to the 41st pick in the 2014 draft, famously getting selected during a Taco Bell commercial.
Yet, his durability is undeniable. Jokić has missed just five of Denver’s first 61 games this season and has played at least 69 games in each of his nine full NBA seasons—a trend he looks set to continue.
Limp or not, Jokić was his usual self against the Celtics, finishing with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 9 assists in Denver’s 110-103 loss.
