[Saba Sports News] Victor Wembanyama may be sidelined for the season, but the NBA is still getting its share of jaw-dropping, Looney Tunes-style highlights—this time courtesy of Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe.
Sharpe went viral on Wednesday during Portland’s game against the Washington Wizards with an outrageous dunk in the second quarter. After intercepting an outlet pass from Washington’s Justin Champagnie, Sharpe took flight down the lane and prepared for liftoff.
Launching from just inside the dotted line, he soared around a contesting Champagnie before detonating a thunderous slam—possibly causing a minor earthquake in the process.
It was the kind of dunk straight out of Space Jam, with Sharpe fully extending in midair like Michael Jordan against the Monstars. Even the most critical dunk enthusiasts had to appreciate the sheer athleticism, as he stretched out to grip the rim rather than simply throwing the ball through the net.
Sharpe wasn’t done making headlines—he also dropped a career-high 36 points to lead the Blazers to a 129-121 victory. While the 21-year-old former No. 7 pick doesn’t always get national recognition playing for a rebuilding Portland squad, he just made it clear he’s ready for the spotlight.
Now the real debate begins: who throws down the more ridiculous slams—San Antonio’s 7-foot-4 sensation Wembanyama or Sharpe, nearly a foot shorter at 6-foot-5, but proving he’s got serious bounce?
