[Saba Sports News] For many fans, the Houston Rockets’ playoff loss to the Golden State Warriors on Sunday felt like déjà vu.
The Warriors pulled out a gritty 95-85 win in Game 1 of their first-round series at Toyota Center in Houston, and once again, Steph Curry was the driving force behind it.
The two-time MVP dropped a game-high 31 points on 12-of-19 shooting, drilling multiple absurd three-pointers that only he seems capable of making look effortless.
Curry dominating the Rockets has become a familiar—and painful—theme for Houston supporters. Back in the 2010s, James Harden’s title-contending Rockets repeatedly ran into the Curry-led Warriors in the playoffs.
Between 2015 and 2019, Golden State eliminated Houston from the postseason four separate times.
Now, against a completely retooled Rockets squad in 2025, Curry picked up right where he left off—leading Golden State past Houston once more.
Plenty of fans took to social media to sympathize with Rockets faithful, noting the decade-long torment Curry has inflicted on the franchise.
Houston attempted to counter Curry with their top perimeter defender, Amen Thompson. That strategy worked in their last regular-season meeting on April 6, when Curry was held to just 1-of-10 shooting. But playoff Curry is a different animal—and on Sunday, he made sure Rockets fans were reminded of that once again.
