[Saba Sports News] One NBA player had his own Like Mike moment on Saturday night.
Philadelphia 76ers guard Quentin Grimes went off for a career-high 44 points in a stunning performance against the Golden State Warriors.
He shot a scorching 18-of-24 from the field, including six three-pointers, while adding six rebounds and three steals to lead the struggling Sixers to a shocking 126-119 upset over the surging Warriors.
Grimes, a relatively unknown fourth-year guard, was far from anyone’s pick to drop 40 in an NBA game. Naturally, fans on X erupted with disbelief over his unexpected scoring explosion.
His breakout performance couldn’t have come at a better time, as it helped Philadelphia snap a brutal nine-game losing streak. With star center Joel Embiid officially out for the season, it seems the city of Philly might have a new unlikely hero in Grimes.
His monster night even outshined another under-the-radar player who put up 41 points earlier this season.
