[Jolly Sports News] The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Indiana Pacers 134-127 on Monday night, wrapping up a back-to-back series.
Luka Doncic and Bennedict Mathurin exchanged words late in the fourth quarter, with Doncic later telling reporters, “He started talking trash with one minute left. I just said, if you’re going to talk trash, start early.”
Despite Doncic’s 34 points, 15 assists, and three rebounds, the Mavericks couldn’t overcome their defensive struggles, especially with Dereck Lively II sidelined by a shoulder injury.
Coach Jason Kidd emphasized the need for more energy, particularly at home. The Mavericks now look to bounce back against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday to improve to 5-3, aiming to stabilize an inconsistent start to the season.
On a positive note, Doncic is beginning to find his rhythm, and the Mavs undoubtedly play at a higher level when he’s on top of his game.
