[Jolly Sports News] Luka Doncic wasted no time having some fun at the expense of his new head coach, JJ Redick, during his first press conference as a Los Angeles Laker on Tuesday.

Ahead of the Lakers’ road matchup against the Clippers at Intuit Dome, Doncic was asked about his past experience as Redick’s teammate on the Dallas Mavericks. The Slovenian superstar couldn’t resist taking a lighthearted jab.

*”First of all, he couldn’t move at all,”* Doncic joked with a grin. *”So, it wasn’t really [much].”*

After getting his playful shot in, Doncic quickly pivoted to praising Redick, emphasizing the respect he has for his former teammate turned coach.

*”No, but it was a great relationship. I really respect him. You don’t see me go on podcasts, but I went on his podcast twice, so you know how much respect I have for him. I’m really excited that I can play for him.”*

Doncic and Redick briefly shared the court during the 2020-21 season after Redick was traded to the Mavericks midseason. The veteran sharpshooter played just 13 games in Dallas before retiring, while Doncic was in the midst of a breakout year, averaging 27.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 8.6 assists.

Though Redick initially kept his playing options open after that season, he ultimately retired and focused on growing his successful *Old Man and the Three* podcast—where Doncic has been a guest twice, further reinforcing their bond despite Tuesday’s friendly roast.
