[Jolly Sports News] Lonzo Ball is finally making progress after being sidelined for over two years due to a knee injury. On the latest episode of his “What an Experience” podcast, the Chicago Bulls star detailed the extensive issues stemming from a meniscus tear he first suffered while with the Los Angeles Lakers.
“It started with a meniscus tear with the Lakers,” Ball explained. “I tore it a couple more times until there was no meniscus left, leading to bone-on-bone rubbing. The cartilage was gone, and the bone was damaged. I had to get a new meniscus from a donor, a bone allograft, and new cartilage. Now, I’m back on the court.”
Ball mentioned that he lost a year as doctors tried to diagnose the issue during and after the 2021-22 season, but he has been on the right path for the past 14-15 months. He expects to be ready for the start of the 2024-25 season.
Previously, it was known that Ball suffered a torn meniscus in 2022 and received a cartilage transplant in 2023, missing the entire season due to ongoing discomfort. Rumors even suggested his knee issues were affecting daily tasks. Since his last game on January 14, 2022, positive updates have been scarce, but a recent viral video has given Bulls fans hope that the 26-year-old may have turned a corner.
