[Jolly Sports News] The Lakers are easing restrictions on Bronny James.

NBA writer Chris Haynes reported on Wednesday that Bronny James, the Los Angeles Lakers rookie, is set to make his G League road debut this week. He will suit up for the South Bay Lakers on Thursday in Phoenix against the Valley Suns.

This marks a significant shift in the Lakers’ earlier stance. Initially, the team allowed Bronny to play only in G League home games, skipping road trips with the South Bay Lakers. So far, Bronny has appeared in three G League games, all at the Lakers’ El Segundo facility, where he has averaged 8.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 26.3 minutes per game.

The 20-year-old has also spent time on the bench with the NBA squad, making a brief appearance on Dec. 7 against Portland, where he logged three minutes, one block, and no points. Now, the Lakers seem ready to expand Bronny’s role, starting with his upcoming road game in Phoenix, just a few hundred miles from Los Angeles.
