[Jolly Sports News] The Los Angeles Lakers may be looking to reunite their old bubble crew. Veteran NBA writer Marc Stein reported that potential assistant coaches are already being considered for JJ Redick’s staff, as Redick is the frontrunner for the Lakers’ head coaching job.
Stein mentioned that the Lakers might pursue Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Jared Dudley for Redick’s staff. Other potential targets include Sam Cassell (Boston) and James Borrego (New Orleans).
Dudley, a former NBA forward, is a favorite of Lakers stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis. He played with them from 2019-21, including during the team’s 2020 championship run. Despite limited playing time, Dudley was a beloved veteran, and James and Davis were reportedly unhappy when he was waived in 2021.
Since retiring, Dudley has been an assistant with the Mavericks, who are currently one win away from a Finals berth. Dudley’s history with the Lakers makes him a likely offseason target, along with other notable names.
