[Jolly Sports News] New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby faces another significant period on the sidelines. After returning to action last week following an 18-game absence due to a right elbow injury, reports indicate that the same elbow has “flared up” again.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Anunoby is expected to miss multiple games, with no definite timeline for his return. Despite managing to play in three games upon his return, he has re-aggravated the lingering elbow issue.

Anunoby, who averaged 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists on 40% shooting from the field in the three games since his return, has flown back to New York amid the Knicks’ current four-game road trip. Despite undergoing an MRI that returned clean results, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau dismissed concerns that Anunoby may have returned too early.

Thibodeau emphasized that Anunoby met all the necessary criteria and markers before being cleared to play and that setbacks like these are typical when returning from surgery. When Anunoby has been healthy, the Knicks have performed exceptionally well, boasting a 15-2 record with him in the lineup.
