[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks are reinforcing their roster as the postseason approaches.
The team is reportedly signing 14-year NBA veteran PJ Tucker to a 10-day contract, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Tucker had been in talks with multiple teams over the past week but ultimately chose New York.
A key piece of the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2021 championship run, Tucker was acquired midseason from the Houston Rockets and made his impact felt in the playoffs. He started 19 of Milwaukee’s 23 postseason games, providing defense, toughness, and veteran leadership en route to the title.
Now, the Knicks are hoping he can bring that same grit to their squad. At 6’5”, Tucker has long been known as a defensive enforcer willing to do the dirty work. However, at 39, his effectiveness has declined.
His last stint was with the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2023-24 season, where he averaged just 1.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 28 games before mutually stepping away from the team.
Tucker was traded three times in a five-day span before last month’s NBA trade deadline and was ultimately waived by the Toronto Raptors. Now, he’s getting another shot in New York.
