[Jolly Sports News] Kevin Durant could be the next major NBA superstar on the move ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.
The Phoenix Suns star has been mentioned in multiple trade rumors as his team hovers around .500, sparking speculation about his future.
According to reports, both the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks are eyeing a potential Durant trade.
Houston, currently 32-17, is emerging as a contender much sooner than expected. While the Rockets had previously been hesitant to pursue older stars like Durant, their surprising success has reportedly shifted their stance.
They have a wealth of young talent, including Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, Cam Whitmore, Jabari Smith Jr., and Tari Eason—any of whom could be used to entice the Suns into a deal. Even first-time All-Star Alperen Sengun might be available, given how well Houston finished last season without him.
The Mavericks, on the other hand, may face a tougher path to landing Durant due to a lack of trade assets. Dallas could offer recent first-round picks Dereck Lively and Olivier-Maxence Prosper, along with newly acquired wing Max Christie, but Houston’s package would likely be more enticing.
Given how shocking the Luka Doncic trade was, nothing can be ruled out ahead of the deadline. And the Rockets and Mavericks may not be alone—one of Durant’s former teams is also rumored to be in the mix for the 14-time All-Star.
