[Jolly Sports News] The Utah Jazz are making Kyle Filipowski’s fall to the second round of the draft more rewarding.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks reported that the Jazz are giving their rookie center a four-year, $12 million contract, the largest for any second-round pick in the last two years, with a first-year salary similar to a No. 22 overall pick (Filipowski was drafted at No. 32).

At 20 years old and standing seven feet tall, Filipowski was an All-American and First Team All-ACC selection at Duke, averaging 16.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game. Despite his skills, concerns surrounding his personal life led to his draft slide.

However, the Jazz were confident enough to select Filipowski and offer him a significant rookie contract as he prepares to compete in Utah’s crowded frontcourt.
