[Jolly Sports News] Ja Morant has officially conquered “Mount Wembanyama”—even if it didn’t make it to the scoresheet.

The Memphis Grizzlies guard went viral on Wednesday for an unreal poster dunk over San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama.

With 2:10 left in the fourth quarter, Morant was fouled by San Antonio’s Stephon Castle on the left wing, prompting the referee to blow the play dead. But Morant kept going, charging toward the hoop where the towering 7-foot-4 Wembanyama stood ready.

Channeling the determination of Rey Mysterio taking on The Big Show, Morant fearlessly attacked Wembanyama at the rim—and came out victorious. He slammed the ball through the hoop over the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, creating a moment that seemed to defy the laws of physics.

Though the whistle had already stopped the play, and Wembanyama may have pulled back slightly, it didn’t diminish the impact of Morant’s jaw-dropping highlight. Even without counting, the dunk was a testament to Morant’s athleticism and audacity.

Morant ended the night with 21 points and 12 assists as Memphis cruised to a 129-115 win over San Antonio. The multi-time All-Star had previously claimed he’d cut back on dunking to protect his body—but this moment proved that promise was, without a doubt, a complete fabrication.
