[Jolly Sports News] Rodney Hood, a key contributor to the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 2018 playoff run, has officially retired from basketball. The veteran swingman announced his decision in an interview with ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, expressing gratitude for his career and sharing his plans to transition into coaching.

Hood, 32, was the 23rd overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft and carved out a solid eight-year career, averaging 10.4 points per game while shooting 36.6% from three. Standing at 6-foot-8, he played for six teams, including the Utah Jazz, Portland Trail Blazers, and Milwaukee Bucks.

Known for his postseason heroics, Hood delivered memorable moments like his game-winning shot in a 4-OT thriller for Portland against Denver and providing bench support for the Cavs during their 2018 NBA Finals series against Golden State.

However, injuries, including a torn Achilles in 2019-20 and another setback in the G League last season, ultimately derailed his career. Hood now joins another member of the 2018 Cavs team in stepping away from the game, ready to begin a new chapter.
