[Jolly Sports News] Veteran NBA forward Rudy Gay has announced his retirement.

In a piece for The Players’ Tribune on Tuesday, Gay, a former Memphis Grizzlies standout, shared that he’s stepping away from basketball after 18 seasons.

Drafted 8th overall by Memphis in 2006, Gay made his mark in the league, spending over six seasons with the Grizzlies before brief stints with the Raptors, Kings, Spurs, and Jazz.

Though a Western Conference team showed interest before last season, he didn’t make the roster.

At 38, Gay wraps up his career with averages of 15.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
