[Jolly Sports News] Several fans believe the Dallas Mavericks have a certain Frenchman in mind with their latest rookie signing.

On Friday, the Mavs reportedly signed undrafted rookie Jamarion Sharp, who stands at 7’5” and was the tallest player in college basketball last season. Sharp was an imposing presence on Dallas’ NBA summer league team, blocking nearly three shots per game in just 15 minutes per appearance.

While signing an undrafted rookie typically doesn’t generate much buzz, this move has fans speculating about Sharp’s potential as a counter to San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama. Some have even dubbed Sharp a potential “Wemby stopper.”

The Mavericks and Spurs have a longstanding rivalry, facing each other four times a year in the Southwest division. Wembanyama, listed at 7’4” but rumored to be even taller, might finally have a match in Sharp, one of the few players who can make him look average-sized.
