[Saba Sports News] Dwight Howard hasn’t played in the NBA since 2022, but the veteran big man isn’t ready to call it quits just yet.
Speaking on Podcast P with Paul George, Howard revealed that he’s reached out to LeBron James and Paul George about making a comeback.
“I have not officially retired yet, but I don’t know what I’m going to do,” Howard said. “I thought I was going to get back in the league, but Paul said he didn’t want anybody over 35 playing center… I asked LeBron, and he said he’s trying to get Bronny and Bryce on the Lakers—it’s a whole family affair.”
Howard, now 39, last played for the Lakers in the 2021-22 season before heading overseas to play for the Taoyuan Leopards in Taiwan’s T1 League.
Once a dominant force and multiple-time Defensive Player of the Year, Howard embraced a bench role in his later NBA years, averaging 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in his last season with L.A.
In recent months, Howard has been vocal about his desire to return, even pitching himself as a solution for the Lakers’ lack of depth at center before the trade deadline.
While L.A. could still use additional size behind Jaxson Hayes and Alex Len, it remains unclear if they’d be open to bringing Howard back after his time away from the league.
