Dwight Howard Responds to Lakers Over Anthony Davis’ Request

[Jolly Sports News] Anthony Davis believes there’s one specific area where the Los Angeles Lakers need reinforcements, and Dwight Howard thinks he might be the solution.

In an interview with ESPN’s Shams Charania on Thursday, Davis was asked about his thoughts on the current Lakers roster. The nine-time All-Star expressed a desire for the team to add another big man, allowing him to shift back to his preferred position at power forward rather than playing center.

“I think we need another big,” Davis said. “I’ve always felt I’m at my best when I’m at the four. We’ve seen it work before. We won a championship with JaVale (McGee) and Dwight (Howard) at the five, and I was at the four.”

One of those former fives, Dwight Howard, wasted no time throwing his name into the conversation. After Davis’ remarks went viral, Howard took to social media with a direct message for his former team.

“It ain’t that hard to find a center,” Howard wrote on X.

Howard, who hasn’t played in the NBA since his stint with the Lakers during the 2021-22 season, has made it clear he’s eager to return to the league. Just a few months ago, he even pitched himself to another Western Conference contender.

The Lakers improved to 24-18 after their victory over the Boston Celtics on Thursday. While rumors suggest the team is exploring the trade market for centers, perhaps general manager Rob Pelinka will consider bringing back a familiar face to address Davis’ request.
