[Jolly Sports News] Bronny James was arguably the most famous rookie at the 2024 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. However, the attention he received reportedly caused tension among his teammates.
According to a report from Steve Brenner and Damian Burchardt of the US Sun, the fanfare surrounding Bronny was “very frustrating” for his summer league teammates. The Lakers allegedly viewed Bronny as “the main guy,” which some teammates felt was undeserved and hindered team chemistry.
Bronny’s performance during the summer league was underwhelming, averaging 8.8 points on 35% shooting, with 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. He also struggled with his three-point shooting, hitting just three of 19 attempts (15.8%).
However, Bronny showed improvement, closing with a 13-point performance in the summer league finale against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Despite the criticism, he had an NBA star defending him after making a big shot during the contest.
