[Jolly Sports News] Brandon Ingram’s name has surfaced as a trade candidate, with his current contract set to expire after this season.
While the Los Angeles Lakers could use reinforcements, particularly in their frontcourt and on perimeter defense, reports suggest a reunion with Ingram might not be in the cards.
It was reported Friday that the Lakers are targeting specific needs but aren’t necessarily pursuing Ingram. Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans, struggling with a 5-18 record, could look to move Ingram and his $36 million salary this season.
Potential suitors may hesitate, knowing Ingram will be a free agent next summer and could seek a max contract, likely preferring a team ready to commit to such terms.
Originally drafted No. 2 overall by the Lakers in 2016, Ingram was sent to New Orleans in the Anthony Davis trade. Now 27 and in his sixth season with the Pelicans, he’s averaging 23.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game. His expiring five-year, $158 million contract adds another layer of intrigue to his trade value.
