[Jolly Sports News] Kawhi Leonard’s health appears to be moving in the right direction.

After missing the Clippers’ first 25 games due to persistent inflammation in his right knee, Leonard provided fans with a glimmer of hope on Tuesday when he was spotted practicing for the first time this season. He even stayed on the court for solo work after the team wrapped up.

Leonard’s surprise return to practice even caught his teammates off guard. Clippers forward Jordan Miller recounted the unexpected moment: “He kind of snuck his way in, too. Very Kawhi-like. … We were doing a shooting drill, beginning of practice. The next thing you know, I’m passing it to Kawhi.”

Earlier this month, rumors suggested Leonard might return by Christmas, but head coach Tyronn Lue dismissed those reports. Still, Leonard’s appearance on the practice court has renewed optimism among Clippers fans.

Despite Leonard’s absence, the 14-11 Clippers have managed to stay competitive. James Harden has found a resurgence, while Norman Powell and Ivica Zubac are enjoying career years.

Powell leads the team with an average of 23.6 points per game through 18 contests, and Zubac has posted personal bests in points (14.8) and rebounds (12.2).

Last season, Leonard played 68 games—his most since the 2016-17 campaign—averaging 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists. If his recovery stays on track, his return could significantly boost a Clippers team poised to make a playoff push.
