[Jolly Sports News] Chris Paul once again demonstrated why his basketball IQ is second to none.

During Wednesday’s game between the San Antonio Spurs and Memphis Grizzlies, Paul found himself in a tricky situation late in the second quarter.

While pressuring Zach Edey during a loose-ball scramble, Paul attempted to force a jump ball but quickly realized the mismatch—going up against the 7-foot-4 Edey would be a losing battle.

Instead of grabbing the ball himself, Paul had a stroke of genius. He signaled for his center, Victor Wembanyama, to step in. When Wembanyama didn’t immediately act, Paul physically guided Wembanyama’s hand to the ball, ensuring the jump ball would favor the Spurs.

Love him or hate him, you can’t deny Paul’s brilliance in moments like these. Where most players would have instinctively grabbed the ball, Paul thought ahead, leveraging his teammate’s height advantage.

This play is yet another example of Paul’s unmatched understanding of the game. Time and again, he proves he knows the rules—and how to use them—better than almost anyone on the court, even the officials.
