[Jolly Sports News] The first move in the NBA’s post-trade deadline market is officially in.

Shams Charania of ESPN reported Thursday that the Boston Celtics have agreed to a deal with veteran forward Torrey Craig. The 34-year-old was recently waived by the Chicago Bulls and was free to sign with any team.

At 6-foot-7, Craig brings versatility to the defending champion Celtics. He has plenty of playoff experience, including a conference finals run with the Denver Nuggets in 2020 and an NBA Finals appearance with the Phoenix Suns in 2021.

This season with Chicago, Craig averaged 6.9 points per game while shooting an efficient 49/43/75. However, he had fallen out of favor and played in just nine total games in 2024-25 before being waived. His time with the Bulls was largely uneventful—aside from an infamous transition blunder that went viral.

For the Celtics, currently 36-15 and sitting second in the East, this signing fills a need. They opened up a roster spot at the trade deadline by dealing Jaden Springer to the Houston Rockets for draft capital. Craig is expected to take that spot and immediately become Boston’s top wing defender off the bench.
