[Jolly Sports News] The Cleveland Cavaliers will be without their leader for their most crucial game of the season.
On Monday, Cleveland announced that All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell will miss Game 4 against the Boston Celtics due to a left calf strain. The Cavs, facing a 2-1 series deficit, will have Caris LeVert start in Mitchell’s place.
Mitchell was listed as questionable on the injury report and missed the open portion of Monday morning’s shootaround. The news is surprising, given he played a team-high 43 minutes in Game 3 and scored 33 points, including seven three-pointers.
If Mitchell’s injury is severe enough to sideline him for this must-win game, his availability for Game 5 in Boston on Wednesday is also in doubt. With Jarrett Allen already out due to a rib injury, the Cavaliers’ season is on the line against the NBA-best Celtics. Given recent rumors, Mitchell may have already played his final game in a Cavs uniform.
