[Saba Sports News] A Cleveland Cavaliers fan proved his doubters wrong by sinking a halfcourt shot to win $10,000—one of those doubters seemingly being Cavs point guard Darius Garland.
During a break in the action as the Cavaliers led the Memphis Grizzlies 93-88 at the end of the third quarter on Sunday, six fans were selected to take their shot at the cash prize. Rocking a vintage LeBron James jersey, the final participant watched as the first five attempts missed.
Before the last shot, Garland, standing behind the contestants, appeared unimpressed as the fan mimicked LeBron’s iconic chalk toss.
He rolled his eyes and even seemed to joke about it with arena security. But in a shocking turn, the fan drained the shot, leaving Garland and the entire Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse crowd in disbelief.
Garland, to his credit, was happy to be proven wrong, celebrating the moment with teammate Tristan Thompson.
The scene was reminiscent of LeBron James’ famous reaction in 2013 when he tackled a fan who hit a halfcourt shot for $75,000. While James wasn’t in the arena this time, the fan certainly channeled his spirit to make it count.
Unlike a recent contestant who lost out on the prize due to a technicality, this fan made sure to stay behind the line—securing both the money and the moment.
