[Jolly Sports News] Former NBA star Rajon Rondo faced controversy earlier this year after body cam footage showed his arrest during a traffic stop in Jackson County, Indiana. The video, released by TMZ Sports, captures police pulling over Rondo’s black Tesla on January 28, 2024, for an unsecured rear license plate.

What began as a routine stop escalated when officers found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm in the vehicle. Despite his status as a former NBA All-Star, Rondo was arrested. The footage shows officers acknowledging his NBA career but still proceeding with the arrest after discovering the contraband.

Rondo faced three charges, including a misdemeanor for unlawful carrying of a handgun. By September 2024, he reached a plea deal, pleading guilty to the misdemeanor while the other charges were dropped. His 180-day jail sentence was suspended, meaning he will serve probation instead.

Rondo’s legal troubles came after a celebrated 16-year NBA career, where he earned four All-Star appearances and won two championships with the Celtics and Lakers. While known for his on-court achievements, this incident highlights the challenges he’s faced off the court as his basketball career has come to a close.
