[Jolly Sports News] On Monday, the NBA announced yet another fine for the Minnesota Timberwolves star. This time, Edwards was docked $50,000 for “making obscene gestures toward a game official.”
The incident occurred during the third quarter of the Timberwolves’ loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday.
Viral footage captured Edwards, standing in the Minnesota bench area, flashing a middle finger toward someone off-camera. It has since been confirmed that the target of his gesture was a referee.
The 23-year-old two-time All-Star has been racking up fines at an alarming rate this season. In November, Edwards was fined for a similar middle-finger incident during a game. He’s also been penalized multiple times for using profanity during interviews.
With this latest infraction, Edwards’ total fines for the season have now exceeded $275,000, including technical fouls and retroactive disciplinary actions.
Edwards may be an on-court star, but his frequent run-ins with league officials are proving costly in more ways than one.
