[Jolly Sports News] If you missed last week’s news about Anthony Edwards being fined by the NBA, don’t worry—he’s racked up another one.
The league announced Sunday that Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves star, has been fined a hefty $100,000. The penalty comes after Edwards used profanity in a postgame interview following Minnesota’s dramatic win over the Houston Rockets on Friday.
The NBA cited Edwards’ “history of using profane language during media interviews” as a factor in determining the fine amount.
The 23-year-old All-Star delivered the game-winning moment on Friday, hitting a go-ahead three-pointer with 23.2 seconds left to secure a 113-112 comeback victory for the Timberwolves.
Speaking to FanDuel Sports Network immediately after the game, an excited Edwards quoted Gilbert Arenas, dropping an F-bomb in the process. While the moment thrilled fans, the NBA was far less amused.
This marks Edwards’ fourth fine from the league this year, not including his league-high seven technical fouls.
In December alone, he’s been fined $25,000 for another F-bomb, $75,000 for a rant about officiating, and now $100,000 for this latest slip-up. Earlier in the season, he also received a $35,000 fine for flipping off a fan during a game.
Edwards’ talent on the court continues to shine, but his postgame outbursts are starting to come with a serious price tag.
