[Jolly Sports News] Despite Anthony Davis’ history of minor injuries, his recent absence from the court was justified by a significant eye injury.
During Saturday’s game against the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers’ big man sustained a corneal abrasion after being poked in the eye by Warriors rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis, forcing him to miss the remainder of the game. However, Davis made a swift return to action for Monday’s matchup against the Atlanta Hawks.
Following the game, Davis candidly shared the severity of his eye injury with reporters, stating,
“The corneal abrasion was actually right in the middle of my eye. I would look, and it was blurry. It was swollen. I thought my eye was like, [torn] open.” Despite experiencing temporary loss of vision, Davis gradually regained his sight by late Saturday night.
Despite the discomfort, Davis demonstrated resilience on Monday against the Hawks, delivering an impressive performance with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists in the Lakers’ 136-105 victory. While he appeared unaffected during the game, the ordeal served as a reminder of the challenges posed by eye injuries in basketball.
