[Saba Sports News] Anthony Davis is doing his best to keep Dallas Mavericks fans from abandoning ship.
The Mavericks’ season has been nothing short of a disaster, with much of the fanbase still furious at GM Nico Harrison for trading Luka Doncic. Things got even worse when Kyrie Irving tore his ACL on Monday, ruling him out for the season—and likely part of the next.
Davis, who suffered an injury just one game into his Mavericks tenure, tried to stay optimistic during a recent interview on *MavsTV*. He reflected on his strong debut performance and addressed the fanbase’s frustration over losing Doncic.
“I know the city was down because of the Luka thing,” Davis said. “At the same time, I know who I am as a player. I’m top 75 of all time, and I just wanted to let the Dallas fans know, ‘Hey, I got y’all, I’m here now.’ So, like, I know you lost a superstar in Luka, but you also gained a superstar like myself.”
Davis certainly backed up his words in his lone game for Dallas, dropping 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 blocks in a 116-107 win over the Houston Rockets on Feb. 8. However, he hasn’t played since.
While Davis sounds committed to leading the Mavericks forward, a recent report suggests otherwise. There are rumblings that his debut game for Dallas may have also been his last.
