[Saba Sports News] Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese did not hold back when addressing the upcoming collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations, sending a clear warning to the WNBA and its owners.
The league’s current CBA was initially set to expire after the 2027 season, but the players’ union exercised an opt-out clause in October, allowing negotiations to begin at the end of the 2025 season. Speaking on her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, Reese made it clear that players are prepared to take drastic action if their demands aren’t met.
“The CBA is coming up. I can’t wait,” Reese said while discussing the topic with Dallas Wings guard DiJonai Carrington. “We deserve more. Everybody. … I need to be in the [WNBA players union] meetings because I’m hearing that if [the league] don’t give us what we want, we sitting out.”
The WNBA has seen rapid growth, largely fueled by the star-studded rookie class headlined by Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark. This surge in popularity helped secure a historic $200 million media rights deal with Disney, Amazon Prime, and NBC, set to take effect in 2026.
With revenue increasing, player salaries are expected to follow. Last season, the highest base salary in the league was $242,000, while Clark, as the No. 1 overall pick, signed a rookie deal worth just $76,000. As new money flows in, Reese and her peers are making it clear—they want their fair share.
