[Saba Sports News] Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Durant may not be the only stars drawing trade buzz this offseason.
According to veteran NBA reporter Marc Stein via Substack, the Sacramento Kings are expected to explore trade options for six-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan.
The speculation follows the team’s recent front office shake-up, with Scott Perry taking over as general manager — a move that could signal broader roster changes.
DeRozan, who will turn 36 in August, could be a challenging piece to move. He’s owed \$24.8 million for the 2025–26 season and \$25.8 million the following year, along with \$1 million in annual performance incentives.
Still, signs point to Sacramento heading toward a rebuild. The Kings traded longtime franchise cornerstone De’Aaron Fox before the February deadline and missed the playoffs after a play-in tournament exit. With that context, DeRozan may no longer fit into their long-term plans.
Zach LaVine, who arrived in the Fox deal, is six years younger and offers similar offensive value with a stronger outside shot. Coupled with Domantas Sabonis, the LaVine–Sabonis duo is already consuming over \$90 million in cap space annually, prompting the Kings to consider financial flexibility.
DeRozan recently made headlines for an off-court altercation at a restaurant, but this summer, he might find himself back in the spotlight as a trade candidate.
