[Jolly Sports News] Two-time NBA champion Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is set to become a free agent.

Caldwell-Pope is declining his $15.4 million player option for the 2024-2025 NBA season to enter free agency. He has spent the past two seasons with the Denver Nuggets, helping them win the championship in 2022-2023. Over these two seasons, the 31-year-old guard played in 76 games each season, starting all of them. He averaged 10.4 points per game and shot 41.5 percent from three-point range during his time with the Nuggets.

Originally a first-round pick by the Detroit Pistons in 2013, Caldwell-Pope played four seasons with the Pistons before signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017, where he was part of their 2021 championship team. He was traded to the Washington Wizards in 2021 as part of a five-team trade that brought Russell Westbrook to the Lakers, and then traded to the Nuggets a year later.

Caldwell-Pope earned $30.1 million over his two seasons in Denver and now aims to secure a longer-term deal in free agency, hoping to earn more than the one-year, $15.4 million option he declined. The Orlando Magic have already been mentioned as a potential suitor.
