[Jolly Sports News] The Dallas Mavericks fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 121-116 in their preseason opener, playing without several stars but still putting up a solid fight.
Two standout performances came from Jaden Hardy and Jazian Gortman.
Hardy led the Mavs with 21 points and nine assists, shooting 6-10 from three and finishing with a plus-minus of +4. Head coach Jason Kidd praised his playmaking and leadership on the court, saying, “He’s making the right play… his motor was high.”
Gortman, battling for a roster spot, added 20 points, shooting 7-13 overall and 4-7 from deep. Kidd commended his aggressiveness and toughness, noting his contributions on both ends.
With the final roster spot still undecided, Gortman made a strong case for himself.
