[Jolly Sports News] It’s déjà vu for Zion Williamson as his latest injury situation takes a discouraging turn.

Shams Charania of ESPN shared on NBA Today that Williamson’s hamstring injury, initially pegged as a four-to-six-week recovery, now looks set to keep the New Orleans Pelicans star sidelined for much longer.

“I am told Zion Williamson is not remotely close to coming back to the floor,” Charania reported. “He’s gonna be out a while longer … [and has] received multiple injections in that hamstring.”

Williamson, 24, was averaging 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game before straining his hamstring on Nov. 6 in a loss to the Cavaliers. He hasn’t played since, missing seven games so far.

Initially projected to return by mid-December, it now appears Williamson might not be back until 2024.

Despite entering the season in great shape and coming off a career-high 70-game campaign last year, his recurring injury troubles have once again taken center stage.
