[Jolly Sports News] Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry had a revealing response to the team’s blockbuster trade for Jimmy Butler, seeing it as a defining moment for the franchise’s core.
Warriors forward Draymond Green shared Curry’s reaction on The Draymond Green Show, recalling a poignant conversation they had after the trade deadline.
“Steph, he looked like he got belief,” Green said. “He looked at me and said, ‘Man, it’s crazy because it just dawned on me that this is it. This is the last ride.’ It was an emotional moment.”
Curry’s realization makes sense. With Butler signed through 2026-27, Curry will be 39 by the time the contract expires, and Green will be 37.
Given Green has already hinted at a retirement timeline, their championship window with this core is rapidly closing.
Golden State is banking on Curry and Butler being the right fit, investing heavily in what could be their final title push.
