[Saba Sports News] The opposing crowd couldn’t help but acknowledge Wardell Stephen Curry II’s brilliance on Thursday night.
Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry torched the Orlando Magic defense, erupting for a staggering 56 points, including 12 three-pointers. His electrifying performance powered the Warriors to a 121-115 road victory in Orlando, extending their winning streak to five games.
Curry was already up to 43 points by the end of the third quarter, and as he checked out with 2:21 left in the period, the Orlando crowd gave him a loud ovation.
The surprises didn’t stop there—when Curry stepped to the free-throw line with 13.3 seconds remaining, chants of “MVP” echoed through the Kia Center.
While some Warriors fans were in attendance, the sheer volume of applause suggested plenty of local fans were also showing their appreciation for an all-time great.
Approaching his 37th birthday, Curry continues to light up the scoreboard like no one else. His 56-point explosion was the fourth-highest of his career—trailing only his career-best 62 in 2021—and his 12 threes were just shy of his personal record (13) and the NBA single-game record (14, set by Klay Thompson in 2018).
After struggling earlier this season and falling to 25-26 just three weeks ago, the Warriors have turned things around. With the addition of Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline and Curry back in peak form, Golden State is once again looking like a legitimate contender.
