Shaq Reacts to Dwight Howard’s Boxing Match Challenge

[Jolly Sports News] Dwight Howard’s push for a boxing match with Shaquille O’Neal seems to be a one-sided effort.

During the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul boxing event on Friday, Howard publicly called out Shaq on X, challenging him to step into the ring. However, Shaq responded on Monday, showing little interest in the proposal. Instead, O’Neal said he’s focused on organizing an NBA vs. NFL event with Rob Gronkowski, an idea he teased while attending the Tyson-Paul fight in person.

Shaq also took a playful jab at Howard, suggesting he lacked the credentials for such a showdown. “Gotta have more than one ring to get in the ring with me,” Shaq wrote. “I’ll stick with a real champion like Rob Gronkowski, and you can have the Superman belt—all yours, buddy.”

The feud between Shaq and Howard has been ongoing for nearly two decades, and it seems the passage of time hasn’t softened the tension. While Howard’s challenge might have been inspired by the massive paydays Tyson and Paul received, it seems Shaq isn’t biting. Howard might have better luck focusing on his basketball future, perhaps convincing a Western Conference team to give him another shot.
