[Jolly Sports News] The New Orleans Pelicans appear ready to move on from Zion Williamson, even at a diminished trade value.

With a 5-25 record and the second-worst standing in the NBA, the Pelicans are entering trade discussions with an eye on shaking up their roster.

According to Lakers reporter Jovan Buha, the Pelicans are eager to retain Trey Murphy and Herb Jones but are open to moving key starters like Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and CJ McCollum. Buha also noted that New Orleans would set a high asking price for players like Dejounte Murray in potential deals.

Trading Williamson seems logical for the Pelicans. The former No. 1 pick has played in just six games this season due to a hamstring injury and has struggled with availability throughout his career.

With $126 million remaining on his contract over the next three seasons, the deal includes significant team protections reflecting his injury history. It seems New Orleans is ready to let another team take a chance on his potential.
