[Jolly Sports News] The New Orleans Pelicans’ season went from bad to worse on Friday with devastating news about Dejounte Murray.

During the first quarter of the Pelicans’ matchup against the Boston Celtics at Smoothie King Center, Murray missed a shot, grabbed his own rebound, and then collapsed with a non-contact injury.

He had to be carried off the court by medical staff, and shortly after, reports confirmed that he had suffered a torn Achilles tendon—ending his season.

Murray, in his first year with New Orleans, was averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 7.4 assists across 31 games. His absence adds to the Pelicans’ growing injury woes, as all three of the team’s All-Stars have struggled to stay on the court.

Murray had already missed a month earlier this season due to a fractured left hand. Brandon Ingram remains sidelined with an ankle injury since early December, while Zion Williamson has played just 13 games amid various health issues.

Williamson has also voiced frustration over the team’s handling of his recovery process.

With their season spiraling, the Pelicans are reportedly considering major roster changes ahead of the trade deadline.
